When I read "Cows?!" and "Corn?!" I laughed out loud at the thought of the excited delivery it seemed to promise. Sorry for laughing during your presentation.
Sorry for not answering right away teddy! That is an interesting question. I think that farms probably work differently all over the country so depending on what the needs are of particular farms they could work rather successfully in different orientations.
I guess I would say that as far as natural physical elements, like tree belts, have very specific purposes and places. It would be improper and unproductive to move their locations. But as for the built elements of a farm...really, most typically evolve as the family business evolves and grows, don't they? Not quite "As the cow walks" but meaningful, strategic, and within budget.
